Database Delivery Done Right — A “Click and Create” Utility for Domino Administrators

Automate the creation and delivery of new databases to your users with this Notes utility. Administrators configure the types of databases that can be created, the allowable server locations, and the people and groups who will be able to use the database types and locations. Database creators (for example, Help Desk staff) can then request new databases by specifying the database type, database location, and the people and groups who may access it. A Notes agent does the rest, handling the creation of the database, any necessary replicas, Access Control List (ACL) entries, and changes to the Domino Directory.

The most useful, well-designed database can get off to a bad start if it’s put on the wrong server or has a faulty security setup that frustrates your users’ attempts to open and use it. At my company, we have developed Click and Create, an IBM Lotus Notes database utility for creating and delivering new databases to our customers. It is simple to configure and use and makes the job of creating and delivering a new database very easy.
I’ll show you how Click and Create works, how to configure it to allow Help Desk and other authorized personnel to safely initiate the creation and delivery of new databases, and where your developers can make a few small modifications to tailor it for your company’s needs. Click and Create works in Notes and Domino releases 8.x and earlier.
