A geographic information system (GIS) utilizes databases that represent information in the form of maps. What if you could populate a GIS database with the information contained in Notes forms? With addresses from a Notes database represented graphically, a sales force database could represent customer addresses on a map to help sales representatives plan their trips, or a customer service application could help delivery people get to their destinations quickly by drawing efficient delivery and pick-up routes. This article shows how you can build a GIS application that pulls name and address data from a Domino database, using NotesSQL (the ODBC driver for Domino) as the bridge between the two systems.
